In 1933 The Bristol, Gloucester & Somerset DA was formed as a single group. Records next show that after WWII in 1947 Bristol DA was formed (records do not show what happened to Gloucester and Somerset). In 1950 Gloucester and Monmouth DA was formed and in 1951 South Wales DA was formed (this appears to make South Wales DA the oldest DA within the region).

During 1958 Bristol and Gloucester once again joined forces to form a DA this we believe ran until 1963 when Avon and Gloucester parted company and each formed their own DA's.
Later in 1964 West Wales DA was formed followed by the Worcester & Hereford DA in 1967.

In 1973 THE CAMBRIAN & WYVERN REGION was formed.

During 1976 North Gloucestershire DA was formed closely followed by East Worcestershire and Gwent who each formed their own DA's during 1977.
The latest addition being Dyfed DA which was formed in 1979.

In addition to the DA's More recent additions include special interest/activity groups. Whilst not a DA within the region Rosemary & Colin actively opperate as country care officers organizing working rallies as and when required.

Special interest groups opperating totally within the region boundaries include The Dyfed BCC & The Trailer Tent & Folding Camper Group, the latter of which was only reformed this year during 2008 (making it the youngest of all the groups/DA's within the region).
